ĢTV Students to Showcase the “Rhythm in Our Roots” April 11-12 for Makin’ Music 48

Henderson, Tennessee – (Feb. 7, 2025) – ĢTV students are tuning up and stepping into the spotlight as Makin’ Music 2025, “Rhythm in Our Roots,” prepares to take center stage. Tickets are now on sale for the 48th annual musical showcase, with performances Friday, April 11, at 7:30 pm and Saturday, April 12, at 2 pm and 7:30 pm in Dryden Auditorium. Tickets are $25 for Friday night, $30 for Saturday’s matinee and $35 for the Saturday night show and may be purchased at .

“Makin’ Music is such a special tradition that brings our ĢTV family together for a weekend of creativity, connection and fun,” ĢTV President David R. Shannon said. “‘Rhythm in Our Roots’ is the perfect way to celebrate where we’ve been and where we’re headed. We can’t wait to see our students light up the new Dryden Auditorium stage and share this experience with alumni and friends.”

The beloved musical event will feature six student hosts and hostesses, the Makin’ Music Showband, two engaging emcees and original productions from five campus social clubs—Chi Beta Chi, Omega Chi, Phi Kappa Alpha, Sigma Rho and Xi Chi Delta. This year’s production will be the first to take place on the new stage in Dryden Auditorium. Formerly Loyd Auditorium, this space has been home to treasured memories for alumni and friends for decades. The auditorium’s comprehensive redesign includes new seating and significant improvements to the stage, sound and lighting to enhance audience members’ comfort and experience.

Hostesses for this year’s production are Michaela Smith, a senior child and family science major from Martin, Tennessee; Halle Drue, a sophomore early childhood education major from McMinnville, Tennessee; and Ashlyn Chandler, a senior public relations and theatre major from Panama City, Florida. Garyson Campbell, a senior psychology major from Muscle Shoals, Alabama; Blake Westmoreland, a senior marketing major from Madison, Alabama; and Colton Wells, a senior youth and family ministry and photography major from Spring Hill, Tennessee, will serve as hosts.

Acting as this year’s emcees are Alec Brown, a senior marketing major from Madison, Tennessee, and Jenna Gillson, a senior middle grades education major from Dickson, Tennessee. The show coordinator is Natalie Turner, a senior math education major from Muscle Shoals, Alabama, and serving as groups manager is Anna Geiger, a senior early childhood education major from Cincinnati, Ohio.

Friday morning, April 11, weekend visitors are welcome to attend a special ribbon-cutting ceremony to celebrate the grand opening of the new Jones Family Dining Hall and Chick-fil-A®. The ceremony will begin at 9:30 a.m. in front of the new dining hall.

Prospective ĢTV students also will get the chance to experience campus life during Maroon & Gold Day Friday, April 11. This event offers high school students and their parents, as well as college or university students who are considering a transfer, an opportunity to tour the campus, meet current students and faculty/staff and have their questions answered about campus life. Maroon & Gold Day is free, and registration for this event opens February 28. In addition, group campus tours for interested students will be held Saturday, April 12. Registration for all admissions hosted events, including Maroon & Gold Days and group tours, are available at .

On Saturday, the campus will host Party on the Green from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Bader Green in the center of campus. The event will welcome guests with food trucks, inflatable jumpers, a photo booth and a cast member parade at 6:50 p.m. In addition, members of the ĢTV Associates will be on hand to sell FH Brews and teas as well as Sunshine Boxes, which will be distributed to current students during finals week.
