March 5, 2026
Henderson, Tennessee – (March 5, 2026) – To celebrate the upcoming retirement of Professor Emerita Laquita Thomson, ĢTV will present her exhibition, “20 Years: A Retrospective,” in the Bulliner-Clayton Visual Arts Center, March 12-April 15. An opening reception will be held in the center’s Troy Plunk Art Gallery March 12 from 5:30-7:30 p.m., with an artist talk at 6 p.m. Refreshments will be provided.
Thomson, who still teaches on an adjunct basis, said that she is grateful for the professional and personal relationships she has developed throughout her time teaching at Freed-Hardeman. “This exhibit adds a personal touch to the relationships I’ve built with wonderful colleagues and students who have made my 20 years at ĢTV so memorable,” she said.
The exhibition will primarily feature works Thomson created during her time at ĢTV, alongside select earlier self-portraits. Visitors will see a variety of media represented, including drawings, paintings and pieces produced through several printmaking techniques.
Throughout her two decades of teaching, Thomson has invested in developing students’ artistic skills while encouraging creative exploration and growth. The retrospective reflects both her evolution as an artist and the lasting impact of her years in the classroom.
